In memory of Justice Thomas R. Fitzgerald and his service to Illinois

Retired Justice Thomas R. Fitzgerald passed away at his home on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the age of seventy-four.  Justice Fitzgerald’s thirty-four year judicial career demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice and the integrity of the judiciary.   His life and career were models for Illinois’s attorneys and judges.

The Illinois Supreme Court has released a statement in tribute to Justice Fitzgerald’s legacy.  According to this statement, and for those wishing to pay respects to Justice Fitzgerald’s family, visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 20105, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., in Countryside. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 N. Spring Ave., in La Grange. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Francis Xavier Church or St. Thomas Hospice.
